My father David was Barry’s older brother by five years which meant that my mother, known as May, first met Barry when he was 13 years old and she quickly formed a bond with him that would last her entire lifetime. She held such fond memories of Barry from the early part of her marriage, when she was new to the ‘Packham Clan’ and trying to fit in she always knew that she could rely on Barry, with his warm and mischievous sense of humour to have a laugh and a joke with. They were soon used to being told off by the rest of the family, who were rather more serious, for giggling together like a pair of naughty school children. I think one of Barry’s most endearing qualities, was his very funny and quick sense of humour coupled with his infectious grin, which lit up his entire face and made his eyes twinkle.
